Student Neel Menon chose the medium of film for his Services As Action project in 2020. The project that he did was a short documentary film called “Girls Should Stay At Home”. This film was subsequently entered into a number of Children’s film festivals around the world, has garnered rave reviews and won multiple awards. Please do take a look at the article on Neel in the Times of India of 9th February  timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/hindi/bollywood/news/exclusive-interview-14-year-old-neel-menon-on-his-win-at-san-diego-international-kids-film-festival-i-chose-gender-equality-as-the-theme-because-it-is-the-need-of-the-hour/articleshow/80772612.cms

A list of laurels the film has won so far are:
  1. San Diego International Children’s Film Festival - Winner, Best Documentary Short
  2. Accolade Global Film Competition - Winner
  3. Kids First Film Festival - Winner
  4. Druk International Film Festival - Winner
  5. NY Young Filmmakers Festivals - Finalist (Screening on 9th March, 2021)
  6. Boston International Kids Film Festival - Finalist
  7. Student Los Angeles Film Festival - Semi Finalist
  8. CHINH India Kids Film Festival - Semi Finalist
In addition to these, the film has also been selected for an exhibition on the Planet Classroom Network, which is an online educational channel beaming to schools around the world.

Unfortunately, the fact that the world was struck by the pandemic took some sheen off these awards as all of them had to be converted to online events. However, Neel has been inspired by the recognition the film has got so far and has channeled all of the locked down energy into scripting and developing new films.

Neel’s Parents Quote sharing this success with us: “Thank you for the holistic path to education that the school has chosen to take. We wish we had such opportunities when we were kids.”
