The Gyan Dhan Loan Info Session that was scheduled for May 22 has been postponed to the fall.  We will let you know the new date when we return after summer.
 2. BUSSATS, May 20, 8-10 am, OIS Lobby
Students who registered for the BUSSAT exam should meet in the OIS Lobby (Ground Floor) at 7:30 am on Saturday.  Please dress comfortably and bring a charged device (laptop) for the test.
 3. University of Sheffield Engineering Rep, Mon May 22, Lunch (Students Only)
Any students interested in meeting with the U of Sheffield Engineering Professor, please stop by Rm 608 during lunch on Monday.

University of Toronto's Professor Shauna Brail will discuss Uber as a disruptive technology firm and how it's transforming urban ground transportation. Members of all seven faculties will also be in attendance to answer questions about attending the University of Toronto and Canada in general.  If you would like to attend, please email Ms Tiffany (tiffany.goulet@oberoi-is.org) or sign up in Room 608.

However, lack of financing forces students to give up on their dreams every year. Founded by IITians with 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry, GyanDhan aims to equalize and expand access to higher education. In the past 12 months, we have helped ~200 students get over 50crores in loans to pursue their dreams of higher education. Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our Book Studies this year.  In all we had five meetings (one whole school, and two each for primary and secondary).  It was great getting to know each other and realizing that we are having similar experiences (struggles?) at home.  Based on feedback, the first book for next year will be The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships in the Digital Age by Catherine Steiner-Adair and Teresa Barker.  Any OIS parent is invited to read the book over the summer (available on Kindle) and join us in late September (date to be determined once we get back from summer) for a low-key discussion.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at tiffany.goulet@oberoi-is.org.

US Uni Info Session, Wednesday May 3, 3:00-4:00 in the OIS Board Room (Open to parents and students)
University reps from Claremont McKenna College (CA), Davidson College (NC), and Middlebury College (VT) will visit OIS on Wednesday.  They will explain what makes each univeristy unique as well as go over the general US application process.  Please RSVP to tiffany.goulet@oberoi-is.org if you plan to attend.

 Anyone ages 11-17 interested in taking the BUSSATs?  
The British Universities & Secondary Schools Achievement Tests (BUSSATs) measure the academic competency of pupils and students seeking entry to a UK school or university. The BUSSATs act a tool for students to know their academic level compared to other students as well as help position and place them at a school with the correct PSAPI score for them.
 
BUSSATs are designed to measure students’ ability in English (comprehension & grammar), Maths (at basic, advanced and super-advanced levels) and General Knowledge (history, geography, science, current affairs and sport). 
 
The tests, which offer over 250 multi-choice questions, are delivered over two-hours using a computer-based technology platform provided by PEARSON VUE. The cost is 5000 rupees.  The test center will be in Mumbai; if enough students are interested, we can look into holding them here at OIS.  Test date will be late May.
 
Anglo Schools International Services has also reached an agreement with Oxford College Summer School (ages 15-17), Dukes International Summer School (ages 11-15), and Etherton Summer Courses (ages 15-17) to provide scholarships for a 2-week uni prep study program at the world's leading unis and top UK private schools (10-100% tuition and airfare) or cash rewards (3000-8000 rupees).  Contact Ms Tiffany for a brochure or enquiriesindia@angloschools.com for more info.
