Ritsumeikan University: Japan's #1 Research University and Safest Campuses to Visit OIS November 29th
In mid-October, I had the opportunity to represent the OIS Career and College Counseling office on a sponsored visit to Ritsumeikan University in Japan and would like to share my experience with OIS students and families. OIS parents are strongly encouraged to attend the presentation by Ritsumeikan University scheduled for Wednesday, November 29th from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the OIS Board Room to learn more about their affordable English medium programs and incredibly safe and high-quality academic environment. Photos taken during the visit can be viewed in the following online presentation: http://bit.ly/2AAKu8v The rising cost of education, uncertain global politics and safety concerns for international students have opened doors, encouraging Indian families to explore post-secondary educational opportunities world-wide. Japan is a highly attractive option for OIS students. To introduce Ritsumeikan University to the OIS community in advance of their visit, I have created a slide presentation with photos taken during my tour of their stunning campuses. For more information on Ritsumeikan’s accredited English medium programs, consult the following program links: Information Systems Science and Engineering; Community and Regional Policy Studies; and International Relations/Global Studies Majors. With an aging population and low national birthrate, Japan is actively seeking international students, offering significant scholarships to sweeten its already affordable tuition rates (estimated at just over $10-12,000 USD). Japan boasts a low cost of living (for urban areas outside of Tokyo) and safe, accessible cities with well-maintained bicycle and public transportation routes. Ritsumeikan’s attractive, state-of-the art campuses are situated within dynamic and incredibly clean and safe urban areas nestled within a stunning natural landscape. Spread across three beautiful campuses in Kyoto, Osaka and Shiga, Ritsumeikan’s 36,000 students study in the world’s safest student cities! (Source: QS Best Student Cities Index 2017). Ritsumeikan is the #1 ranked academic research institution in Japan with a history dating back to the early 19th Century. The Global Studies major has won Ritsumeikan membership in the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs, a designation shared with prestigious U.S institutions such as Columbia, Harvard, Yale and American University. Students are nurtured by supportive and knowledgeable staff, with 134 foreign faculty; more than any other Japanese university. Ritsumeikan partners with universities in more than 62 countries, including American University, University of Washington, NYU, and UC Davis in the United States, the National University of Singapore, the University of Melbourne, the University of Manchester and many institutions in India, including the University of Delhi, University of Pune, and the Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad and Kanpur.
