![]() Student Led Conferences: Thursday, March 05 (No school for children on this day) In order for your son/daughter to gain the best from their conferences scheduled for Thursday March 05, 2020, it is important that you have an understanding of the format we use at OIS for Student Led Conferences, this is detailed below. Student Led Conferences: Student Led Conferences involve the student and their parents. Students showcase their learning and understanding with their parents. The students are responsible for reflecting upon work samples they have chosen to share, that have been selected with guidance and support from the teachers. The learning conversation you and your child will have is very individual and for this reason no siblings will be accommodated for in a conference. We ask that you take advantage of the drop-in child care available on that day for children who attend our school and that you make alternative arrangements for your pre-schoolers. [Room #111 1st floor library, 2nd floor library, #323 3rd floor library] All of the participants should understand the format and their roles prior to the conference. The format may differ depending on the age of the child. The role of the Student is to be on time, stick to talking about the prepared work and to speak clearly. The Parent’s role is to be on time for the conference, be positive, concerned and interested, to ask questions (question prompts will be available should they be required) and to listen. The role of the Teacher is to facilitate the conference. Bookings will open in the last week of February, further information about booking your 45 minute student-led conference will follow. As always the staff are available to talk through any queries you may have regarding the progress and development of your children and I would ask, that should you wish to talk about any issues you may have, that you contact the office to make an appointment with the class teacher, rather than raise these in front of the children at their conference. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support. Tony Batchelor
