August saw the start of our Café Conversation programme for this year, an opportunity for parents to join me and my faculty to have a conversation about various aspects of school life at OIS. Next week sees the second in our series for this semester. Our topics of conversation range from our thinking around different educational issues to the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organisation to curriculum and to how we engage with curriculum here at OIS. Over the year we typically hold 3 Café Conversations each semester. You will be notified in advance and will be required to sign up for these sessions. Usually, because of our large primary parent community, sessions will be targeted to particular grade levels and numbers will be restricted to a 'first come' basis. From time to time parents also offer suggestions of topics for me to include and one of those will be the focus of our November conversation - how we teach maths now - which I am sure will be of interest to many of you. My faculty and I look forward to seeing you over the year at our sessions. ![]() Café Conversation October 23 Play-Based Learning Parents of children in Nursery and Junior Kindergarten are invited to join me and members of my team to explore what 'Play-Based Learning' is and what this looks like in our Nursery and Junior Kindergarten classes. We look forward to seeing you at 08:00 in our fourth floor meeting room. The link to the sign up sheet has been advertised through the school announcements. Semester One Sessions:
