''OUR BELIEF IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL RESTS IN OUR STRONG SENSE OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY...''

It is timely that after 6 weeks back for this first semester, we stop and reflect on how the year is progressing.

The stand out for me is how well the year has started for us in the continued virtual environment we find ourselves still in. This year is very different from this time last year - the city is opening up, businesses are returning to somewhat normal work but children remain at home, learning online.

We are very conscious that our planning in June for this academic year may not still be applicable for our parent community right now. To this end we sent out a survey to our parent community on August 19, and received feedback over the next 7 days. The response rate was disappointing with only 15% of our primary families responding. In saying that the data we received was affirming of what we were doing which was reassuring for me and my pedagogical leadership team. The attached responses to the survey can also be viewed on the pedagogical leadership blog.

The one area where we received the most feedback was from our Early Years families. We have listened to your feedback but we still have some questions for you. We want to make sure that we have heard you right. I ask that if you are one of our Nursery, JKG, or if you are one of our Senior Kindergarten families that you respond to this attached survey, we have also the survey on our PLT blog; your response will inform our decision making. We have presented in all grades an alternative to the schedule we are running at the moment based on the feedback from you, our parents, and from our faculty. In order to have your say, please take some time to respond. Responses will close on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Next week sees our student, parent, teacher meetings and it is heartening to share with you that as of today 60% of you have booked your time to meet with the homeroom teacher. Last week information was shared with you about the conferences and I would urge you, if you haven’t already, to take a minute to familiarise yourself with the format for these which again can be found on the PLT Blog.
