Primary Student Council

Today I had lunch with the primary student council.
The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organising and carrying out school activities. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the primary student body.
 
I asked the children during lunch what they hoped they would be able to contribute to the council. Some of their ideas were…

• Making fair decisions
• Changing student mindsets
• Hearing what other kids have to say and take action
• Making the school a better place
• Turning people’s good ideas into reality
• Bring more happiness into the school
• I want all voices to be heard
• Want all children to be emotionally, physically and socially comfortable in the school.

I was blown away by these very mature contributions from our Grade 3, 4 and 5 representatives.
 
This is our first primary OIS-OGC student council and you will see from the photos that we collaborated closely with the senior school representatives from the student council.
