The coffee mornings with our Director have now finished and I have enjoyed attending these with you and hearing your questions and comments.
It seems fitting that my first blog post for this year is on the day when the school is awash with various amazing ’funky’ shoes. What better way to start the year than to put our best ‘feet’ forward, in our funky shoes, as we stride into this academic year. The year has started very smoothly for us; today is only the 17th working day of school however our routines are set, classes are fully into their first unit of inquiry, the faculty is in place and we have welcomed 128 new students and their families into our primary division this year. Some important dates coming up in September: 02 Ganesh Chaturthi Holiday – the school is closed 03 A half day for your children. The school is closed from 12:30 on this day. You will have received an announcement from our Director about this. 04 New Parent Workshop – this workshop is for parents new to our school and who are wanting to find out more about the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme . All new parent should attend this workshop. 06 Faculty Professional Learning Day – no school for children 10 I-pad workshop for parents of children in Grade 5 – more details to be announced. 12 Anant Chaturdashi Holiday 20 Parent-teacher-child 3-way conferences 25 Grade 3 Residential Trip meeting. More information to come. 27 Funky Fun Friday – more information will posted on sea-saw. At last count 17 books have been donated to our library collection in different languages (Spanish, Italian, Japanese, French, German, Korean and Maori). This is as a result of my request to parents to collect books in other languages from the places they holiday. Thank you for this, a plate will be placed in each of the books, and when completed these books will join our world languages collection. Enjoy your long weekend. Tony
