Dear Parents, Friends and Families, Parents and students alike are asking, "when will we start learning?" The past few weeks have been about transitions and settling-in. Without a healthy and positive community of learners, learning simply doesn't happen, so all students have been involved in various activities and learning engagements of getting to know their community; this is an essential part of their learning and allows them to become familiar with the different Approaches to Learning (ATL's). Collaboration is an essential component to making learning happen in an inquiry school, so just like the students, the staff have also been 'getting to know one another.' In a recent staff meeting, our fabulous PSPE team organised a game of 'Koh Koh' for teachers, not only did we have a lot of fun but we learnt more about each other through a very physical activity! This week has seen many Grades begin a unit with a 'provocation,' something to get the students motivated with their upcoming unit, start sharing what they know already and begin to ask questions. The students confidence and curiosity stems from having them feel safe in their learning environment, hence the need to spend time creating positive class communities. Our youngest learners have been making themselves familiar with their immediate environment and getting to know the adults and children they are working with. In their collaborative learning spaces, our Early Years have been curious explorers of their environment and enjoying getting to know different resources. We are providing many more wonderful workshops for parents this year, please check some of the dates below and we will share more details closer to the dates.
