30 November 2017 Dear Neil McWilliam, Oberoi International School - JVLR Campus is a candidate school* for the PYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students. * Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. ![]()
Unit 3 at JVLR has started in grades SKG-Grade 4. Inquiry time is happening. Students are investigating how the world works, how to organize themselves, and the importance of sharing our planet peacefully with everyone.
We've already had some fascinating guest speakers and some engaging field trips planned. Our goal is to encourage learning within and beyond the classroom. We also want students to inquire. We want them to ask questions, and we want to encourage curiosity. It's important for us as adults not to have all the answers. Kids are figuring things out for themselves, and their brain is growing every time they do. When we give them the quick answer, their learning has ended, so encourage kids and ask questions yourselves. There are great resources out there for help on this. The IB's ideas are in the video below. Here's something from Life Hack about encouraging kids to continue their curiosity. There are great books to encourage curiosity. Did You Ever Wonder is such a book. Why are School Buses Always Yellow is another great books for teachers and parents. A great collection from Pinterest is here. You can also ask our librarian or your child's teacher. Please find our unit 3 inquiries happening across the school here. Comments are closed.
